About the Author

A native of Mobile, Alabama and graduate of McGill Institute, James Joullian Gonzales received his B.S. degree and Commission from the USAF Academy in 1969, Juris Doctor degree from Vanderbilt University Law School in 1972, Master of Laws degree from George Washington University Law School in 1977, and M.A. Theology degree in 1985. His active and reserve Judge Advocate career included USAF Judiciary trial and appellate defense litigation before the USAF Court of Military Review and U.S. Court of Military Appeals, and service as major command Labor Counsel. Colonel Gonzales completed Air University Air War College and Air Command and Staff College, retiring in 1999 with decorations including The Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, and Vietnam Service Medal. He also has been admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, U.S Circuit Courts of Appeals, Colorado Supreme Court and Tennessee Supreme Court.
